“Mosaic - Chinese Pavilion”
Mosaic, A Festival of Cultures, is a community-based, family-friendly event.Every summer from 1968, Regina has celebrated ethnic diversity and all of its wonders.The festival is a three day event taking place on the first weekend of June. There were around 20 pavilions every year including the Austrian Edelweiss Pavilion, Balaton Hungarian Pavilion, Brazilian Pavilion,Caribbean Pavilion, Chinese Pavilion, Francophone Pavilion, German Pavilion, Hellenic Greek Pavilion, India Pavilion, Irish Pavilion, Italian Pavilion and so on. The Confucius Institute at the University of Regina, together with the Regina Canadian Chinese Association, co-hosted the Chinese Pavilion at the Riddell Centre at the University of Regina. Visitors tried the delicious Chinese cuisine and drinks, watched Tai Chi, Peking Opera and the stage performance by Chinese dancers wearing national costumes, and listened to Chinese music. In the hall of Riddell Centre, visitors could also browse arts and crafts at various exhibition tables. Some people gathered in front of a large screen, a Chinese culture experience system, to absorb some information on history, drama and tourist attractions in China.
