The Confucius Institute at Newcastle University was launched on 18th May 2013 as a partnership between Newcastle University and Xiamen University of China. It aims to provide Chinese language teaching resources, promote the understanding of Chinese culture and contemporary China, as well as foster academic and educational exchange cooperation between institutions in China and the United Kingdom, particularly between Xiamen University and Newcastle University.
