Taichi & Health Qigong Supporting Wellbeing
In recent years, the Confucius Institute at the University of Central Lancashire has focused on Tai Chi and Qigong, gradually promoting health-preserving Qigong to the university and the local community. This initiative has created a positive cultural impact of China in the region. Based at the University of Central Lancashire, the Confucius Institute offers weekly Tai Chi classes at various levels for university staff and students at the university's sports center. It has also trained university students in routines such as "Tai Chi Fan" and "Tai Chi Sword," enabling them to participate in the UK "Chinese Bridge" competition, where they have achieved outstanding results. Using Tai Chi and health-preserving Qigong as a medium, the Institute actively participates in health and elderly care projects within the university and the community. These efforts aim to enhance scientific understanding of Chinese fitness Qigong and promote its role in the UK's health and elderly care sectors. These activities have significantly increased local residents' appreciation of traditional Chinese culture. The Lancashire Evening Post once featured a report on a Qigong workshop organized by the Confucius Institute at the Harris Museum, the oldest museum in the area, and conducted an exclusive interview with the British director of the Confucius Institute.
