The Confucius Institute at Cardiff University (CICU) was jointly established by Xiamen University and Cardiff University and officially launched on February 4, 2008. Dedicated classrooms were opened on July 15, 2008, followed by the completion of the language lab in September 2010. The CICU oversees seven affiliated Confucius Classrooms located across Wales, from north to south. In 2011, an HSK examination site was set up at the CICU. Currently, the institute offers elective Chinese courses to Cardiff students at all academic levels, as well as non-credit courses for local professionals and adults. Additionally, it provides comprehensive Chinese teaching programs and diverse cultural activities for primary and secondary students.
