On May 2, 2019, the 18th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Turkish university students was held by the Middle East Technical University and its Confucius Institute in Ankara. More than 40 university students from all across Turkey participated in the competition. The theme of the competition was "One World, One Family". The competition included a knowledge quiz, the display of oral expression skills in Chinese, and a talent show. The Confucius Institute at Yeditepe University was represented by three of its students. One of these representatives, Uğur Hürkan, gave a speech titled "The Power of Dreams", whereby he shared his personal experiences in recovering his health and continuing with his studies. In the talent show, he sang a popular Chinese song "The girl opposite, look over here". Another one Uğur had been studying Chinese for only 110 hours by the time he took the stage, which was highly admired by the audience. The next "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition will be held at Boğaziçi University.
