The Dragon Boat Festival, a traditional Chinese festival, falls on June 3, 2022. In order to let the students of the Confucius Classroom at Emalus Campus, the University of the South Pacific have an in-depth understanding of traditional Chinese culture, two teachers from the Classroom prepared and held a colorful activity about the Dragon Boat Festival and Chinese culture.

The students from the scholarship class came to participate in this activity despite the rain. The activity included introducing the relevant knowledge of the Dragon Boat Festival, the prize quiz, tasting zongzi, a performance of tea art and the distribution of sachets.

Through watching the video and the question-and-answer session, the students learned about the poet Qu Yuan, the customs of eating zongzi, dragon boat racing, and hanging sachets during the Dragon Boat Festival, and also the related Chinese vocabulary.

Tasting zongzi, performing tea art and distributing sachets let the students experience the broad and profound aspects of Chinese traditional culture. During the whole activity, the students were enthusiastic, and they were full of praise for the taste of zongzi and Chinese tea. After the group photo of teachers and students was taken, the activity came to the end. Everyone felt that this event was unique, and they benefited a lot from it.
