Date of
Establishment:
The Science and Technology Innovation Confucius Institute at the University of Huddersfield was jointly established by the University of Huddersfield in the UK and East China University of Science and Technology in China on July 8th, 2019. His Excellency Liu Xiaoming, the then China's ambassador to the UK, witnessed the agreement signing ceremony with other distinguished guests of the two universities. This is the 30th Confucius Institute in the UK, and the first to boast sci-tech innovation characteristics.
Our CI is based in the Oastler building at the University of Huddersfield Queensgate campus. Our work centres around Chinese teaching, sci-tech Chinese in particular, and Chinese culture spreading. We aim to build a platform of friendly exchanges of humanities and sci-tech cultures between the two universities, between Shanghai and West Yorkshire, and eventually between China and the UK.
