Middle East Technical University (METU) Confucius Institute is the first active Confucius Institute in Turkey. It was inaugurated on November 28, 2008, and operates under the partnership of Middle East Technical University and Xiamen University. The Confucius Institute at METU is committed to promoting Chinese language teaching and cultural exchange between China and Turkey.
