On July 7, 2023, the First Joint Meeting of Chinese Language Teaching Institutions in Turkey, co-sponsored by the Chinese Embassy and the Confucius Institute at Middle East Technical University (METU), was successfully held at the Chinese Embassy in Ankara. The theme of the meeting was "One World, Seek Development Together." Ambassador Liu Shaobin, Counselor Zhou Meifen, and representatives from 19 Chinese teaching institutions in Turkey, including 13 universities, participated in this meeting. Chinese language teachers from across the country gathered to discuss challenges in Chinese language teaching and strategies to promote high-quality development of Chinese language education in Turkish schools and colleges, thereby establishing a high-level academic exchange platform.

In the afternoon, participants visited the Confucius Institute at METU and engaged in in-depth discussions about teaching challenges and experiences. Subsequently, Prof. Mughamet Zayelk, Vice President of METU, met with representatives from four Confucius Institutes in Turkey. He emphasized the importance of strengthening exchanges and cooperation, sharing teaching resources, and working together to improve the level of Chinese language teaching in the country.
