On the evening of April 9, 2022, Huang Shengxin, Malaysia Dean of the Confucius Institute at University of Technology Sarawak, and Zhou Yantao, Chinese Dean, led all the teachers to the construction site of the Baleh Hydropower Station in Sarawak, Malaysia, undertaken by China Energy Construction Group, to hold Chinese cultural activities for more than 30 non-Chinese employees of the hydropower station, and celebrate the upcoming 13th United Nations Chinese Language Day.

Zhou Yantao, Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at University of Technology Sarawak, introduced the Confucius Institute and all its teachers to the employees of the hydropower station. He said that the Chinese courses had to adopt the online course model according to the objective conditions, but the effect of the staff's learning was satisfactory to the teachers. The construction site is in the middle of the tropical rainforest where the network signal is limited, but the staff still insists on learning even though there’s only live audio. Their enthusiasm for Chinese learning still impresses the teachers, and the Confucius Institute plans to increase offline teaching appropriately. On the eve of the 13th United Nations Chinese Language Day, CI teachers and the builders of the hydropower station gathered together to express the hope that every employee will experience the beauty of Chinese language and the charm of Chinese culture through the cultural activities.
