Confucius Institute at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages is an overseas Chinese teaching institution jointly established by Southwest University and Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages. It is the fifth Confucius Institute in Kazakhstan and the second one in Almaty city. The institute was inaugurated on April 19, 2017, and officially commenced operations from September 2017. The Confucius Institute has always adhered to a three-pronged approach: leading with "Chinese language discipline research, curriculum and textbook development, and professional training of local teachers"; practicing with "Chinese language teaching and cultural activities"; and expanding with "close cooperation between the institute and enterprises, and collaborative development". With the joint efforts of Chinese and Kazakh teams, the Confucius Institute is positioned to strive to become an important platform for the people of Kazakhstan to learn Chinese and understand China. It aims to promote cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges between China and Kazakhstan, enhance mutual understanding between the two nations, and carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries.
