Ding Xuexiang emphasized that President Xi Jinping attached high importance to international Chinese language education. He underscored the commitment to upholding fundamental principles while driving innovation, enhancing connectivity and integration, and building consensus among all stakeholders to construct bridges for linguistic exchange, mutual understanding and trust, and mutual learning among civilizations. In recent years, through the concerted efforts of Chinese and international partners, international Chinese language education has yielded substantial achievements. The global Chinese language education system has been further refined, the practical value of Chinese language in social applications has become more pronounced, and the impact of cultural exchanges has grown increasingly visible. As Chinese language learning continues to reach general populations worldwide, it has gained broad recognition across the global community.
Ding Xuexiang stated that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has charted an ambitious blueprint for China's economic and social development over the next five years. China remains steadfast in advancing quality development and expanding high-level opening-up, which will provide more opportunities for countries worldwide. The global demand for learning Chinese language and understanding China will continue to grow. As the home country of the Chinese language, China will, as always, facilitate high-quality Chinese language education in all countries and jointly promote new advancements in linguistic and cultural exchanges and cooperation. He put forward four proposals: First, uphold innovation-driven leadership by aligning with educational trends in the digital-intelligent era, developing smart campuses and smart classrooms, and enhancing the co-creation and sharing of digital Chinese language resources to make the learning more accessible and efficient. Second, prioritize services by further integrating international Chinese language education with vocational and professional training, actively expanding its practical application scenarios, and improving learners' practical language proficiency. Third, foster friendly exchanges by encouraging language partnership between Chinese and foreign primary and secondary schools, successfully hosting the "Chinese Bridge" competitions, and facilitating opportunities for Chinese language learners to study in China, thereby deepening mutual understanding and people-to-people bonds. Fourth, champion openness and inclusiveness by jointly implementing the Global Civilization Initiative, strengthening two-way exchanges between Chinese and other languages worldwide, supporting Sinology and China studies globally, and promoting inclusive coexistence and mutual learning among different civilizations.
Prior to the opening ceremony, Ding Xuexiang visited the thematic exhibition of the World Chinese Language Conference.
