The 5th CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event is officially launched!
Collection Period: March 31, 2025 – August 1, 2025
1.About the Event
The first CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event was launched in 2021. Over the past four years, more than 200 Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) have actively participated, with a total of 1,996 submissions coming from over 90 countries and regions. The 5th CI Moment Global Short Video Collection Event in 2025 embarks on a new journey, thus we extend a sincere invitation to all CIers worldwide to join this annual event lasting from spring to autumn, sharing global stories in Chinese language and capturing the charm of the CI with your cameras.
The three themed sections of the 5th CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event are:
Themed Section 1: Hello, Confucius Institute!
Capture the wonderful moments of the CI through the lens and share the warmth and strength.
In this section, creators can document their experiences with the CI (hereinafter referred to as Confucius Institute/Confucius Classroom), share achievements, introduce the unique features of the CI, showcasing CI’s efforts and outcomes in fostering exchanges between Chinese culture and local cultures. This is a spotlight dedicated to CIers. Whether it is about interesting classroom moments, touching bonds between teachers and students, or the changes in the development of the CI, we sincerely welcome CIers, including directors, teachers, volunteers, or students, to recount CI stories from different perspectives, share CI activities and introduce its growth, highlighting CI’s unique role in promoting mutual learning among civilizations and fostering people-to-people connections.

Themed Section 2: Discovering Chinese Language Around the World
Carve the global footprint of the Chinese language throughout light and shadow.
In this section, creators are encouraged to share their fascinating encounters with the Chinese language around the world. It could be the familiar lyrics unexpectedly heard on a foreign street or cherished memories of bonding over Chinese movies, TV dramas, novels and other media. This section focuses on the power of Chinese language as a bridge. By showcasing its global footprint through works, the efforts and achievements of Chinese language learners can be recorded. It also highlights how mastering or teaching Chinese can transform lives. Creators are welcome to introduce the unique customs, landscapes, and everyday life of different countries in Chinese language.
Chinese language carries thousands of years of civilization and wisdom, serving as an important cultural contribution from China to the world. This ancient and captivating language is not only a bridge that transcends borders and communicates with the world, but also a window to a broader and more colorful world. Discovering Chinese language around the world and embracing the world with it.

Themed Section 3: Partners of the Confucius Institute
Post Moments to showcase the exciting journey of cross-border collaborations.
In this section, creators can introduce the CI’s vast network through videos. They can highlight CI’s collaborations with schools, communities, governments, businesses, medical teams, agricultural aid groups, and local cultural organizations and institutions, capturing how these partnerships spark innovative and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Let us explore the CI’s Moments to witness how CIers and infrastructure engineers jointly create a blueprint of “Language + Technology”; to see how they build a “Health and Culture Bridge” with overseas medical teams; to discover how they cultivate “Smart Farmlands” alongside agricultural technology experts. It also includes “Chinese +” programs co-established with universities, training bases in collaboration with enterprises, and highlights of vibrant cultural events within local communities, etc. Every recorded moment contributes to the constellation of partnerships, showcasing the boundless possibilities of CI’s global network.

Outstanding videos will be promoted and showcased on Confucius Institute Global Portal, Douyin, Video Channels, Confucius Institute, and partner media platforms.
4.Awards
(1)Individual Awards in Three Themed Sections
Grand Prize: 3 entries (awarded with a certificate, a trophy, and RMB 10,000)
First Prize: 15 entries (awarded with a certificate, a trophy, and RMB 6,000)
Second Prize: 30 entries (awarded with a certificate, a trophy, and RMB 4,000)
Third Prize: 100 entries (awarded with a certificate and a trophy)
Note: All prize money is awarded pre-tax. The certificates and prizes will be granted by the organizer to the groups that the winners belong to.
(2)35 Excellent Organization Awards will be selected based on the quantity and quality of the videos submitted from participating institutions, with certificates and trophies presented.
(3)15 participants from the award-winners will be selected as “CI Talent”, who will be provided with certificates and trophies, along with specialized training sessions.
5.Guidelines for Participation
(1)Eligible Participants
This event is open to all Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), and foreign and domestic institutions of education, cultural exchanges and media. The video submitted should meet at least one of the following requirements:
1.The leading creators should be faculty, students, staff, alumni of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), or individuals working in related fields.
2.The content must be related to Confucius Institutes (Classrooms).
(2)Event Timeline
1.Launch Date: March 31, 2025
2.Submission Period: March 31 – August 1, 2025
3.Training and Experience Sharing Sessions: May — June 2025
4.Expert Review: August 2025
5.Award Announcement: September 27, 2025 (Global Confucius Institute Day)
(3)Submission Requirements
1.There is no limit to the number of submissions per institute.
2.No limitation on the format. Please be creative.
No restrictions on production methods; both professional equipment and mobile phone recordings are accepted.
No restrictions on language; however, narration or subtitles must include Chinese. Bilingual subtitles are recommended.
Maximum duration: 10 minutes.
3.Please make sure that the video has clear image quality and is filmed in landscape mode. The format of the video should be MP4 or MOV, with an aspect ratio of 16:9 widescreen. Recommended resolution is 1280×720 or higher, preferably 1920×1080 pixels. Recommended frame rate is 25 FPS or higher. No corner marks or logos.
4.Submissions must be original and not used in other competitions. No infringement of third-party intellectual property rights. Not previously published in newspapers, magazines, websites, or social media. No content involving violence, pornography, racial discrimination, or other inappropriate materials.
5.The submission channel will open in May 2025. Please follow WeChat Official Account of the Confucius Institute for updates. Note: the deadline for submission is August 1, 2025 (Beijing Time).
(4) Additional Notes
1. Participation in the event implies voluntary transfer of the copyright of the submitted works to the organizer, endowing the organizer with rights to further sublicense, including but not limited to the following rights:
(1) The right of reproduction;
(2) The right of compilation (part or all of the video);
(3) The right of translation;
(4) The right to reproduce printed and digital editions of the works;
(5) The right of dissemination on the Internet;
(6) The right of distribution.
2.Participants must ensure that there are no disputes regarding the authorship of the submitted works. In the event of any dispute, the individual submitting the work will bear full responsibilities.
3. If any work is found to be suspected of plagiarism, copyright infringement, or any other form of misconduct, the submission will be disqualified, rewards will be revoked, and the individual will be held liable for any legal responsibilities.
4. Chinese International Education Foundation (ClEF) reserves the right of final interpretation of the event.
