Happy Chinese is part of the latest major project sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education of China. It is a set of Chinese teaching materials specially compiled for overseas junior middle school students aged 11 to 16,with Li Xiaoqi as editor-in-chief. Following Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education, Happy Chinese consists of three levels and nine books. Every level includes a student’s book, a teacher’s book, and a workbook, accompanied by a variety of easy-to-use digital resources such as audio, video, animations, presentation slides, e-books, etc. After completing the entire set of books, learners can reach the proficiency of Elementary Level 2.
