Dalian University Museum with an area of over 4000 square meters, is an public institute of Science Education Union. It is the first comprehensive museum invested and established by a university in Northeast China . It has been successively approved as "Science and Technology Education Base of Liaoning Province", "Students Social Practice Base of Liaoning Province", "Dalian Science Education Base", and "Excellent Science Education Base of Dalian City" by Education Department and Education Commission of Liaoning province, Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Propaganda Department and other municipal departments accordingly. In 2006, it was rated as a national 3A-level tourist attraction; in 2011, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Tourist Attraction" by the Administration of Dalian Jinzhou New District.

The museum boasts nearly 10 thousand exhibits displayed at different exhibition halls including a red gene exhibition hall, a natural science exhibition hall, a life science exhibition hall, a art exhibition hall and a Northeast historical and cultural relics exhibition hall. The exhibits showed knowledge of 53 majors in 10 disciplines. There are historical exhibits, modern exhibits and introduced exhibits. The exhibition hall also displayed a large number of scientific and creative achievements made by our teachers and students such as the EOD robots, sewage treatment devices, infrared principles, plasticized human specimens and Chinese herbal medicines. The museum is free to all university teachers and students and people from all walks of life . It has received more than 300,000 Chinese and foreign tourists since its opening in 2004.
