Antigua and Barbuda, April 19, 2024 — On the occasion of Grain Rain in the Chinese Agricultural Calendar, the Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda hosted a grand "International Chinese Language Day" event. The Confucius Institute of Antigua and Barbuda (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute") responded actively, with all Chinese teachers participating. They not only assisted in the smooth running of the event but also showcased the charm of Chinese culture through wonderful performances.

On the day of the event, the teachers from the Institute presented classic excerpts from the Huangmei Opera "The Female Crown Prince." Their melodious and touching singing and vivid performances won rounds of applause from the audience. In addition, the teachers also played the instrument Hulusi, performing "Singing and Dancing with the Lusheng," which allowed the audience to feel the unique charm of Chinese music.

In different exhibition areas of the event, the teachers from the Institute interacted closely with the guests. They assisted guests in painting facial makeup, writing calligraphy, and paper-cutting, allowing them to experience the profoundness and richness of Chinese culture firsthand. At the same time, the teachers also participated in interactive quizzes focusing on the city's unique culture, introducing Antigua and Barbuda's cultural characteristics to international friends in a fun and engaging way.

To further introduce Chinese cuisine culture to the guests, the teachers prepared various Chinese delicacies and invited international friends to taste them. The aroma of the food filled the air, attracting many guests to stop and have a taste.

The "International Chinese Language Day" event provided a platform for the teachers from the Institute to interact closely with local students, parents, and members of the community. Through interactions with people from different backgrounds, the teachers not only broadened their international horizons but also gained a deeper understanding of their mission to promote Chinese language teaching and culture exchange.

The Institute will continue to devote itself to the promotion of Chinese language education and cultural exchange, contributing to enhancing the friendship and mutual understanding between the people of China and Antigua and Barbuda.
