On April 8, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the National University of Lesotho, a grand unveiling ceremony was held for the Confucius Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology at the university. The event was attended by Mr. Lu Hui, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho, His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho, and Mr. Ntoi Rapapa, Minister of Education and Training of Lesotho. Over 500 people witnessed this historic moment, including representatives from Jilin Agricultural University and Tonghua Normal University, members of the Lesotho education sector, representatives from Chinese enterprises and the Chinese medical team, as well as faculty and students from the university.

Professor Sun Wenxian, Vice President of Jilin Agricultural University noted in his speech that the Confucius Institute, as an important platform for promoting cross-cultural and language exchange, has long been dedicated to fostering international understanding and cooperation. The newly established Confucius Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology will not only serve as a vital gateway for the people of Lesotho to learn Chinese language and understand Chinese culture, but also, with its focus on agricultural science and technology, support the modernization of agriculture in Lesotho and open new avenues for educational cooperation between China and Lesotho.

On the evening before the unveiling ceremony, the second meeting of the Confucius Institute Board of Directors was held at the hotel where the Chinese delegation was staying. Attendees included Professor Kananelo Mosito, Vice Chancellor of the National University of Lesotho, Vice President Sun Wenxian of Jilin Agricultural University, and Vice President Zhang Qiuju of Tonghua Normal University, among other board members. The meeting involved in-depth discussions on budgeting, teaching plans, and faculty development for the Confucius Institute. 

On that same evening, the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho hosted a celebratory reception to mark the official establishment of the Confucius Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology.

The unveiling of this Confucius Institute marks a new milestone in China–Lesotho educational cooperation. It not only builds a new bridge for cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries but also sets a new model for China-Africa agricultural collaboration. In the future, the Confucius Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology will cater to Lesotho's local needs by actively promoting Chinese language education, agricultural technology training, and cultural exchange programs, continuously injecting new vitality into the development of friendly China–Lesotho relations.
