Confucius Institute at University of Mazandaran(CI at UMZ), located in Babolsar a northern city by the Caspian Sea in Mazandaran Province of Iran, is co-established by University of Mazandaran and Guangzhou University. After the inauguration on May 4, 2019, the CI at University of Mazandaran started Chinese language teaching in June. The CI team consists of the Iranian co-director, Chinese co-director, a part-time secretary and a Chinese language teacher, and every semester we also have a couple of UMZ student assistants to help the CI staff and the Chinese language learners in the course registration and class management . From October of 2019, as the only Chinese language teaching institute in Northern Iran, the CI has recruited 3-4 classes every semester,attracting many young people from several nearby cities as well as the students from University of Mazandaran. The CI at UMZ welcomes anyone who shows interest in China and enthusiasm for Chinese language learning both inside and outside University of Mazandaran. The Chinese language courses mainly focus on the contents from HSK1 to HSK4-------that is, from the very beginning of the language to the intermediate level. For each group of students there will be 4 hours of class time every week, and the teachers will be always ready to answer the students’ questions.The CI at UMZ plans to offer Chinese language courses not only to the students in UMZ and nearby northern cities but also to other learners all over Iran.
