爵士，英国知名物理学家、教育家，英国物理学会会长，曾担任谢菲尔德大学校长，原孔子学院总部理事会理事，2012至2020年期间担任谢菲尔德大学孔子学院（与北京语言大学、南京大学共建）理事长。

A distinguished British physicist and educator, Sir Keith Burnett has served as the President of the Institute of Physics and was previously Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield and a member of the council of the former Confucius Institute Headquarters. From 2012 to 2020, he chaired the Board of Directors of the Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield (co-hosted by Beijing Language and Culture University and Nanjing University).

Sir Keith has been a committed advocate for the internationalization of higher education, focusing especially on fostering Sino-British cultural and academic exchange through institutions like the Confucius Institute. Embracing an education philosophy centered on "Serving the People", he has often described the cultural exchange as both a "bridge" and a "light," famously remarking, "The Confucius Institute is like a beam of light on both of us that helps us listen, learn from each other, and ultimately benefits all humankind." 

Sir Keith has personally championed the Confucius Institute’s mission, frequently giving interviews, publishing articles, and writing books to amplify its role. Through his influence, he secured dedicated facilities for the Confucius Institute, learning Chinese himself and becoming proficient in its use as a powerful testament to his commitment. His dedication extended to providing policy recommendations for China’s higher education, always aiming to deepen educational collaboration and cultural understanding between China and the UK.

Sir Keith was twice awarded the Confucius Institute Individual Performance Excellence Award of the Year, and the Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield received the title of Model Confucius Institute in 2014.
